It was a small price to pay for a perfect day. It smelled like fish and sweat, but Elliot didn’t mind. “Good haul!” The farmer lifted the cooler of fish out of the boat and helped Elliot out. Elliot didn’t want to ruin the farmer’s fishing trip if he didn’t feel the same. It was a beautiful day and the farmer was happy. It was enjoyable, despite Elliot’s nerves. This reasoning, no matter how good and sound it actually was, was likely another excuse for Elliot to put off what he had to do. Elliot firmly believed that you should never make romantic advances on someone who can’t escape, and a rowboat in the ocean seemed pretty inescapable. It was on his mind the whole afternoon, but he wanted to wait. Elliot’s heart leaped and he hoped that the farmer couldn’t see his blush past his sunglasses.Įlliot spent the entire trip building his resolve to confess his feelings to the farmer when they rowed back to shore. They lifted the small boat up and brought it into the water (the farmer doing most of the heavy work.) The farmer put a hand on Elliot’s lower back to steady him as he got in, the boat shifting under the changing weight.

A broad-brimmed hat and sunglasses, sleeveless shirt, and skin shining from freshly applied sunscreen culminated to a rather dorky look.

“It’s really great what you can catch just a bit further out, sometimes the docks don’t really cut it.” It was early summer and the farmer was dressed for it. The farmer would take Elliot’s boat out twice a week usually, but still thanked Elliot every time like it was a special treat. “Thanks again for letting me borrow your boat,” the farmer continued. Elliot liked hearing the farmer say his name, no matter how many syllables it had. Elliot wasn’t all that into nicknames, but it sounded so natural coming from the farmer. “Hey El,” The farmer waved as he crossed the beach, flashing his signature wide grin. Sharing your honest feelings without any frills of grand gestures and fancy words was quite terrifying to Elliot. Despite the confident romantic everyone perceived Elliot to be, he felt like he was truly a coward deep down. It wasn’t fair to be frustrated over something the farmer didn’t even know he was doing. Admittedly, it was a little immature of Elliot to be avoiding the obvious solution, simply telling the farmer clearly what he was feeling.

Elliot had done everything short of just blurting out that he lov… liked him. Elliot had given him a love letter, a literal love letter, and all the farmer had to say was that it sounded nice before handing it back to him. It didn’t seem to matter what Elliot did, the farmer just couldn’t get the hint that Elliot liked him.

The farmer’s immunity to Elliot’s advances was becoming quite bothersome. Hiya! Can you do Elliot and himbo fisherman farmer who is just super friendly but totally oblivious to his affections? Thanks, and happy pride!?️?
